I work for a private diagnostic center (ViaMedica) in the West Island of Montreal, we offer MRI's, Ultrasounds, Blood Tests, Vaccines and other nursing services. I am originally from Boston, MA and have been living in Montreal for 2 years now. It is very sad when people call us desperately looking for an appointment for a test to be done because the hopsital or other medicare covered place is telling them it will be months before they can take them. More and more people are looking to go private so they don't have to wait. For me, as an American working in this different type of healthcare system, I can't believe people have to wait so long for tests- I worked on the US health system for 9 years before I came here. The reason I love working at our clinic is because we really care about the patient, we treat them with respect and we try to accomodate them to the very best of our ablity. What I would like for the people of Montreal is for them to be able to get the care they deserve when they want and how they want. We suppot the West Isalnd Chamber of Commerce and we have sponsored a runner for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer 2009. We are also selling Breast Cancer socks for the Programme de dépistage du cancer du sein from the Alliance des Communautés Culturelles pour l'égalité dans la Santé et les services sociaux. I want to spread the work about our clinic, but also get in touch with and get to know the people of Montreal.
