#98 Unit block front Lawn converted to vege garden
At a block of 8 units in Maroubra, four resident owners got together and agreed to convert their large unused front lawn into an organic vege garden. Their owners corporation agreed, a beautiful mandala design was created by Sydney Permablitz's Renata Field, resident and prime mover Kimberley did lots of good organising and on May 2nd a bunch of Permaculture Sydney East members, Sydney Permablitzers, resident and locals got it done - all in about 6 hours! That's a Permablitz!
In addition, fruit trees are going to be planted down the side of the block - we dug holes for those as well and filled them with straw and manure to get them nice and juicy for when the trees arrive!
See how quickly we worked in the video. Follow up photos or videos will be added so we can all watch it grow.

Looking forward to the updates. I would love to do this to my place.
I'd love to see lots of people do it to their place! Get in touch if you want guidance - permaeast@gmail.com

This is fabulous - I've heard of these Permablitz activities. So cool to see it actually happen - love the 6hours into 3 mins editing. Can't wait to see & hear more about what you are all eating and sharing from the garden. Digging those edges too :-) Where does Permaeast meet Peter?
I recently did a permaculture course with http://www.milkwoodpermaculture.com.au/ ... so keen to continue the learning.
Hi Natalie,
We meet monthly. The next meeting is actually a combined east, inner west and south meeting on Tuesday 18th August 6.30pm at Leichhardt Town Hall with the legendary permaculturist, Geoff Lawton presenting. After that we are meeting the third Saturday on the month 2pm to 4pm at Barrett House in Randwick. email permaeast@gmail.com and I'll send you more details. There's also more photos and another video at www.permaeast.ning.com
Fabulous - I've heard of this meeting from a few channels. I will definitely do my best to be there. I went along to the Randwick Organic Community Garden today - what a lovely place.
Hi Peter - can you also suggest a good nursery with organic root/leaf/fruit seedlings in Sydney? I need some more for our exhibition on Sat @ COFA. :-)
