#91 creating my own money

I've joined Sydney LETS, a local trading system with it's own currency and online trading post. We trade goods and services at trading days and online using our own currency called 'Operas'. We believe everyone's time is valuable, so we trade services at 20 Operas an hour, regardless of the usual market value of the service.

Our money is earned into existence, so it is as abundant as we can make it. We don't charge interest on balances that are below zero, and no interest is earned on positive balances. There's nothing to be gained by hoarding it, and all sorts of good stuff you can spend Operas on.

I've been trading web design, homemade bread, fresh cheese and plants. And I've spent my Operas on some massages, home cooked meals, a keyboard and a magical gingerbread house. Soon I'm going to try yoga, drumming, and learning to roast my own coffee.
