Give enough money to the train ticket vendor to cover the next person's fare.

This won't help if they're buying a weekly travelpass, but will surprise them by contributing their fare.

...And maybe put a smile on a face!

love this! i used to do this with harbour bridge tolls sometimes...hadn't thought of doing it with trains :)

That's awesome! Next time I'm on the train will do. I wonder if the principle would work if you offered people dinks on your bike? Hmmmnnn....
