#41 Cine Barrio
'Cine Barrio' is an initiative of the Sydney Latin American Film Festival. The Sydney Latin American Film Festival is a not for profit grassroots organisation entirely driven by volunteers. The Festival works with independent filmmakers from every country in Latin America and is known for its diversity in documentaries and feature films. The Festival hopes to raise awareness, to share & learn and enjoy Latin American culture in Sydney. The Festival also has a special program on Social & Environmental documentaries followed by interactive panel discussions. The proceeds of the Festival go to social & environmental projects in Latin America.
Next to the big Festival which is taking place every year, the Festival finds it important to share stories amongst a wide group of people and acknowledges the mental or physical limits of some of these groups in our community. It therefor organises 'Cine Barrio' (cinema in the suburb) and organises film screenings at community centres, mental health centres and schools. The screenings held at schools are usually about social & environmental justice to show and teach children in a engaging way about some of these issues in Latin America. Surrounding relevant activities could be organised.
The Festival is open for requests for a 'Cine Barrio' event from community groups and schools. There are many interesting stories to be told, to be shared and to be learned from...
