Swap Party - Saturday 21st April 2012
Giant Swap Party at Taylor Square on Saturday 21 April 2012
- let’s get Swapping!!
Let’s get Swapping!! The Giant Swap Party is on again at Taylor Square, on Saturday 21 April, 2012. Rain, hail or shine, keen swappers will come out in droves to exchange their trash for someone else’s treasure. The weird, the wonderful and the wacky – who knows what will turn up on the swap tables at this much-loved event at Taylor Square!
Everyone enjoys getting some new stuff – but increasingly we’re becoming aware of the environmental and financial impact of our throw-away culture. The Giant Swap Party @ Taylor Square is a great way to help people gain some new stuff…without it costing the earth.
Ever been to a giant swap party? Wondering how will it work? It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…
- Bring: On Saturday 21 April, bring up to three easy to carry, good quality items that you no longer want to Taylor Square, between 10.30am – 11.30am. (No electronic items accepted.)
- Exchange: You’ll exchange each of your items for a token. All items will be on display until 11.30am – so you can browse around and check out the goods!!
- Swap: At 11.30am the swapping will begin. You’ll be able to exchange each of your tokens for an item brought by someone else.
It's fun, free and great for our environment. By diverting items from landfill, and avoiding buying something new, you save water, resources and reduce emissions.
Great Prize: After registering your items to swap, just purchase anything at the Farmers Market over $5, and you’ll be in the running to win a fantastic Farmers Market hamper.
The Giant Swap Party is held at Sydney Sustainable Market – Farmers Market at Taylor Square. Make sure you allow time for browsing amongst the fresh seasonal produce, and chatting with the farmers and producers. Look for seasonal fruit and vegetables (organic and low spray), free range eggs, organic bread, local honey, flowers, herbs and more. The Giant Swap Party at Taylor Square was made possible by a City of Sydney Matching Grant.
Sydney Sustainable Markets Inc is a community organisation created to support the cause of NSW Regional Farmers and Producers. Their weekly Farmers Market operates every Saturday 8am – 1pm at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst, and provides the opportunity for genuine farmers and value add food producers to showcase their produce in an inner city context.
The market operates on an underlying philosophy of Fair Price – offering products that reflect a fair price for both the producer and the consumer. Purchasing from a genuine Farmers Market also provides discerning customers the opportunity to exercise the power of choice, in support of the NSW Farming industry.
