#259 Throsby Long Brunch

Residents of Tighes Hill, Islington and other suburbs around Islington Park in Newcastle got together for an informal 'bring your own everything' brunch in early December 2010.

Brunchers assembled their tables (old doors, planks of timber etc) and connected them with white table cloths under the majestic fig trees in Islington Park, and shared a plate and a conversation with their neighbours.

Newcastle Council provided the entertainment - an irreverant take on an old favourite, the Punch and Judy show.

Theatre

Kids an adults enjoyed a bit of old school entertainment with the Punch Vs Stuff puppet show.

A good gathering

The event got a great turnout, even though it was purely word of mouth promotion.

A great communal space

Relaxing under the fig trees, enjoying good food and company reminded us all what a great space we have in Islington Park and we all vowed to do these sorts of things more often.
