#174 urban wwoofing, frugalism + self directed study

Ive taken a few challenging steps towards immersing myself in a simple, frugal lifestyle - rich in barter trade and sharing (knowledge, skills, food!). This has included my housing for the last 8 months or so. Ive also recently started blogging about some of it.

Container Food Garden

An early shot from some suburban permi retro-fitting during a busy 10-day stay. Getting my father Frederick back into growing vegies, here he is watering his salad greens in the morning sun. They beckon outside the kitchen window in styrene boxes on benches. Lovely.

this is a continuation of the summary really..

I didn't have much luck with the world of structured education so im enjoying a good stint of self directed study, the topic? community relocalisation. I realised recently that more than any of the related topics - that was the one i was most interested in.

Ive had a bit too much interest around "urban wwoofing" so im hoping to continue to document and promote what it is so that more people in urban areas can be housed in such a way.

I don't mean to spoil the party over here at live local (it's such a great party!) but ive been documenting my adventures over at http://frugalistmassive.wordpress.com/ and in the interest of spending less time on computers im hesitant to post similar things again on another part of the web. It is a wonderful thing that live local is making this process easy for folk though. I was hoping for my blog to involve a few authors but some keen friends haven't posted yet, perhaps i'll end up over here soon enough..

happy adventuring, big smiles

Hi Dylan! Awesome experiment, and live local is pointedly non-competitive about links. If you've got a great blog going on – which you do – we heartily encourage telling people about it.

Perfect ! I finally jumped on here because someone commented that the blog was reminding them of live local.
