#152 InsideOut: Seedling Update & Support.

What an amazing day for getting some dirt under the nails and planting basil, bok choy, tomatos, lettuce, cauliflower and broccoli.

We had quite a few left over seedlings so I took some up to my parents' place - who live on 4 acres in Tumbi Umbi. Lucky mum had the garden bed all ready for spring. Then on our return we put the basil and other remaining plants into some planter boxes.

We had some organic soil from Bunnings and mum and dad had some mulch (straw and other organic things) to put on the top, which helps hold in moisture and prevent weeds from taking over.

There are some tips/updates on the "artistic collaboration" experiment too.

Where are your seedlings now?

... something strange is going on with this site/page so I will keep it brief ... an update of the urban seedlings...

and be sure to check out this ace free event at CarriageWorks on Sat 26th

http://www.carriageworks.com.au/whats_on.php?event=communitygarden

CarriageWorks’ Kitchen Garden Project is a series of free community activities and workshops based on the notion of creative sustainability.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Under the guidance of sustainability expert, author and coach, Michael Mobbs, join us in building an organic kitchen garden from scratch. Whether you’re into organic homegrown vegies or saving on grocery bills, you’ll learn the principles of environmentally friendly ‘no-dig’ gardening for urban spaces.

To find out more, attend the free info session and screening of award-winning enviro-doco The Power of Community, then a limited group of people can join the evolving workshops including: construction of planter boxes; composting; worm farms; soil prep; seeds and germination; planting and plant care and finally, harvest.

See you there :-)
