Does Sydney need a wake up?

What would it take to make Sydney a more joyous place to live and work? Could it be that all we need is a little bit of kindness?

Wake up Sydney (WUS), the brainchild of Jonathon Fisher, is a social enterprise centered on the idea that kindness is a revolutionary force for social transformation.

WUS adheres to many of the principles that we, here at live local, are into. Most importantly, that we each have the power to make changes in the world around and the best place to start is with changes to ourselves. The idea being that we cannot bring forth the type of society that we want if we ourselves do not take action to live by the principles that would govern such a society.  Fisher sums up his philosophy by saying "I truely believe that 'small' is revolutionary and we do ourselves a great disservice thinking that change only takes plave through 'big' actions."

In this vain WUS has launched The Kindness Revolution, a campaign to inspire spontaneous, anonymous acts of do-gooderness.

How it works:

Step1: Register with WUS and they will send you a pack of kindness cards (free of charge and never fear, they're printed on recycled paper), which you can leave behind to 'tag' people you bestow your kindness on and encourage them to pass on an act of to someone else.

Step 2: Commit a random act of kindness. Ideas include picking up someone else's tab at a cafe, baking your friend or neighbour a cake, just because or sending a handmade thank you card.

Step 3: Enjoy the good vibes that come from knowing that you gave someone else a warm fuzzy feeling.
