Living local on ABC
live local pal Anna Burns, an ABC producer, recently recorded a radio piece for Radio National's 360 about taking the live local challenge.
Anna went above and beyond, however, taking the challenge for a month and customising the challenge by staying within two kilometres of her home – à la Lucas Ihlein in Petersham.
It's a wonderful bit of radio, with personal reflections and perambulatory observations woven together with chats with various characters in Anna's neighbourhood in Redfern.
In conjunction with that piece, ABC's open-source Pool project has an open call for live local stories, and there are already some great stories in Pool's live local group – one contributor's discussion of "chook-induced anxiety" is quite hilarious. (Said anxiety has apparently subsided since the piece was put up, with the chickens now producing three eggs a day on average).
The Life Matters program also got in on the live local act, with a recent piece about community gardens.
